"Forget modern metal. Forget innovativity. Forget the future. Forget the present. Dr. Livingdead! takes you back to the past - back to when metal thrashing mad meant metal thrashing mad!

Yes, we are dealing with retro thrash metal here, and it is no less than fucking awesome. Dr. Livingdead! make successful use of all the elements that made old school thrash metal great, such as fast riffing, fast drumming and midtempo chugging passages and breakdowns, and there are even some blatant references to the thrash metal gods of the 80s, such as the 'Angel of Death'-scream in 'Slime from Above' and the song title 'Feeding the Cyco'. The only things that this album lacks are shreddy wah-wah overkill guitar solos. They would have made this album the perfect thrash metal release - there is a nice classic metal-style solo in 'My Brain Ids for Sale' though.

The vocal sound like Tom Araya meets Mike Muir meets John Connelly. Technically, Dr. Livingdead! is a crossover thrash band, I suppose, as a couple of hardcore punk elements pop up every now and then, most prominently the riot yell backing vocals that are virtually omnipresent on this album.

This release is definitely an album you should own if you love thrash metal.
